【 摘 要 】
Background:Breastfeedinghasbeenassociatedwithdecreasedfrequencyofotitismediainchildren.Itmightbeduetolowerprevalenceofnasopharyngealcolonizationwiththerespiratorypathogensamongbreast-fedinfantscomparedtothosewhoareformula-fed.Objectives:ThisstudywasperformedtodeterminetheinfluenceofbreastfeedingonStreptococcuspneumoniae,HaemophilusinfluenzaeandMoraxellacatarrhaliscolonizationratesinchildren.PatientsandMethods:Inthiscross-sectionalstudy,2-6yearsoldchildrenin10randomlyselecteddaycarecentersinnortheastofIran(Mashhad)werestudied.WeobtainednasopharyngealspecimenstocultureforStreptococcuspneumoniae,HaemophilusinfluenzaeandMoraxellacatarrhalisfrom1125children.Carriageratesforaforementionedbacteriaweredeterminedandanalyzedonthebasisoffeedingtypeduringinfancy.Results:Atotalof885childrenwerebreast-fed(78.7%),69childrenwereformula-fed(6.1%),and171childrenweremixed-fed(15.2%).CarriageratesofS.pneumoniae,H.influenzaeandM.catarrhalisamongchildrenwere13.1%,9.1%,and4.3%,respectively.Althoughlowerincidenceofnasopharyngealcolonizationwasfoundinbreast-versusformula-fedchildren,itwasnotsignificant(Pgt;0.5).Conclusions:Itseemsthatfeedingininfancyhasnoinfluenceovertheprevalenceofnasopharyngealcolonizationwithrespiratorypathogensduringchildhood.
