【 摘 要 】
Background:Renalstonediseaseisacommonurologicdisorderaffectingalargenumberofpatientsaroundtheworld.Riskfactorslikeanatomicalabnormalitiesandgeneticmetabolicenvironmentalanddietaryparametershaveimportantrolesinurinarystoneformation.Oneofitsmetabolicparametersisuricacid.Objectives:Theaimofthisstudywastoevaluatethelevelofuricacidinserumand24-hoururinesamplesofpatientswithurolithiasisandcomparethemwithhealthygeneralpopulation.MaterialsandMethods:Thiswasacase-controlstudyperformedintheurologyclinicofNoorhospital,affiliatedtoIsfahanUniversityofMedicalSciences,betweenFebruary2009andJuly2010.Patientsdiagnosedwithurolithiasiswereenrolledasthecasegroup.Healthysubjectsfromthegeneralpopulationwererecruitedasthecontrolgroup.Thepatientswerereferredtothelaboratoryforcheckingtheserumand24hoururinaryuricacidlevels.Results:Fortyfivepatientswithrenalstoneand90healthycontrolswereenrolled.Thelevelofserumuricacidwassignificantlyhigheramongthepatients(P=0.003)andmalepatientshaddramaticallyhigherlevelsthanfemales(P=0.002);but,theurinaryuricacidlevelswerenotsignificantlydifferentbetweenthecasesandthecontrolsorthemalesandthefemales.Conclusions:Serumuricacidlevelmaybeusefulinthescreeningofrenalstones,especiallyinpatientswithapositivehistoryofthisdisease.
