The Effect of Digital Media Programs on the Oral Health Promotion in the Health Office: A Quasi-Experimental Study

【 摘 要 】

Background:Regularusingofthetoothbrush,mouthwashanddentalflossisusefulinpreventionandtreatmentoftheoraldiseases.Objectives:Thispaperexaminestheimpactofaneducationalfilmonthepromotionofthestudent’soralhealthbehavior.MaterialsandMethods:ThisresearchwasconductedinChabaharin2011-2012,on10-12yearoldgirls.Threehundredstudentswererandomlyassignedtothreegroupsof100.Thetypeoftheinterventionincludedfilmandlecture.Posttestswereconductedintwophases:immediatelyandthreemonthsafterthefirstintervention.Theresearchdatafromvalidandreliableresearcher-madequestionnairewasanalyzedbytheSPSSVersion16usingOne-wayAnalysisofVariance(ANOVA)andMann-WhitneyUtests.ThestudywasapprovedbytheethicalcommitteeofTarbiatModaresUniversity.Results:Thehighestrateofthebirthorderinthestudypopulationwastwo,meanageofstudentswas11years,andthemeannumberineachfamilywasfive.Theaverageeducationlevelofmothersandfatherswasilliterateandliteracyrespectively.Themajorityoffatherswereunemployedandmotherswerehousewives.Mostofthefamilieshadprivatehousing.Meandecayedmissedfilledteeth(DMFT)was:1.46+1.66.Theleveloftheknowledgeandattitudeaboutteethbrushingwasincreasedimmediatelyandaftertheintervention(Plt;0.001).Therateofpracticeincreasedafterthreemonths(Plt;0.001).Theleveloftheknowledgeandattitudeaboutdentalflossingincreasedimmediatelyandafter3months.Therateofthepracticedidnotincreaseafterthreemonths(Plt;0.46).TheleveloftheKnowledgeaboutusingthemouthwashincreasedimmediatelyaftertheintervetionandafterthreemonths(Plt;0.003).Therateofthepracticedidnotincreaseimmediatelyaftertheintervetion(Plt;0.43).Thefilminterventionwaseffectiveonthestudents’Knowledgeimmediatelyandthreemonthsaftertheintervention(Plt;0.025).Thefilmeffectivellyinfluencedstudents’attitudebothimmediatelyandthreemonthsaftertheintervention(Plt;0.028).Takenalltogetherthestudyshowsthattheoralhealthpracticeisworseinthefamilieswiththelowersocio-economicsituation.Conclusions:Usingeducationalfilmcouldbeeffectiveinpromotingstudents’self-carebehaviors.
