【 摘 要 】

Background:Patientswithrheumatoidarthritis(RA)areatincreasedriskofdevelopinglowbonemineraldensity.TheaimofthepresentstudywastocomparethebonemineraldensityofIranianfemaleRApatientswithhealthycontrols.Materialsandmethods:Inthiscase-controlstudy,bonemineraldensityof391rheumatoidarthritispatientsand391healthycontrolsreferredduringa4-yearperiod(2003-2007)toImamKhomeiniHospitalinTehran,werestudied.Patientswereassignedintwosubgroups;group1(n=184)withahistoryofcurrentoralcorticosteroiduseandgroup2(n=207)with-outcorticosteroiduse.Dual-energyx-rayabsorptiometrytechniquewasusedtomeasurebonedensity.DifferencesbetweengroupswereanalyzedusingFisher'sexacttest.DuncantestandSchaffertestwereusedtocomparemeandifferencebetweeneachtwogroups.Results:Among≤45and>60yearsfemales,bonedensitydidnotshowasignificantdiffer-enceatlumbarregionbetweenthe3groups,however,thedifferencesatfemoralneckwerestatisticallysignificant(p
