The Effect of Standardized Extract of Echinacea Purpurea on Cytotoxicity and Proliferation of Rat Splenocytes

【 摘 要 】

Objective:ThemainpurposeofthisresearchistostudytheeffectofstandardizedextractofEchinaceapurpureaonviabilityandproliferationofratsplenocytes.Materialsandmethods:ThecytotoxiceffectofvariousconcentrationofstandardizedextractofEchinaceapurpurea(25,50,100,200,400,800,1600,3200μg/ml)onratsplenocyteswereinvestigatedbyLDHmethod.CellsproliferationwasperformedattheaforementioneddosesbyMTTmethodat24to72hour.Results:Splenocytestreatedwithstandardizedextractshowednocytotoxicityincomparetocontrolgroup;thus,theviabilitypercentagebetweentreatedcellswithvariousconcentrationoftheextractandcontrolgroupdidnotsignificantdifference(p>0.05).Splenocytesproliferationunderstandardizedextractwassignificantly(p<0.05)increasedatconcentrationsof800,1600and3200μg/mlin24handat400,800,1600,and3200μg/mlconcentrationsin72hcomparetocontrolgroup.Thisincreaseinproliferationdependsondosageandtime.Conclusion:ItisdemonstratedthatstandardizedextractofEchinaceapurpueahastheproliferationeffectwithoutcytotoxicityeffectonsplenocytes,andithasimmuneenhancingfeaturwe.
