【 摘 要 】

ThisstudyinvestigatesthepopulationofBirecikNorthernBaldIbisduringtheirreproductionperiodin2012(February-July).NorthernBaldIbis(Geronticuseremita)isconsideredaspeciesthatcouldsoonbecomeextinct;152individuals(July2012)areinBirecik(Turkey)assemi-wild.BirecikNorthernBaldIbisreproducesfreelyintheirhabitatofFiratriverside,inMarch-July.Theyarenourishedfrombothfeedandnaturalsourcesinthisperiod.TheystartthereproductionactivitiesinMarch.Copulationstakeplacenotonlybeforeandduringtheincubationperiod,butalsoafterthechickensleavethenest.Thecopulationsturnintoanactivitythathasdifferentfunctions.Thecouplescarryouttheincubationtogether.Theybuildtheirnestsinwoodratherthanrockyplaces.Althoughtheyprefermassreproduction,thereisalsoseparatenesting(9%)andtheyincubateinwoodennestsratherthaninrockyplaces(91%).Theincubationactivitywascarriedoutin26nestsduringthereproductionperiodin2012.Theincubationwassuccessfulin22nestsandunsuccessfulin4nests.Althoughthenumbersofchickenschangebetween1and3,thenestswith2chickenspredominate(76%).Forty-fivechickenshatchedandthreechickenswerelostwithinthefirstweek.ItisrequiredtomakesomeimprovementsinthevoliyerandnutrientsinBirecik.Supporteffortsarerequiredfortheeggandchickensduringthereproductionperiodforthesurvivalofthespecies.ThenumberofNorthernBaldIbiscanreachintohundredswithimprovementstobemade.
