【 摘 要 】
RhynchosiabeddomeiisanendemicmedicinalplantfromtheEasternGhatsofIndia.TheplantwasusedinvarioushumanailmentsbythetribalpeopleoftheEasternGhats.Theplantisreportedtopossesssignificantantimicrobialactivityandisasourceofflavonoids.Thepresentinvestigationwasfocusedonthecharacterizationofchemicalconstituentsofessentialoilfromtheleaves.Thehydrodistillationofshadedriedleavesresultedwereessentialoil.Theaveragecontentofessentialoilwasobtainedas1.32%andwasanalyzedusingGasChromatographycoupledwithflameionizationdetector.Atotalof13compoundswereidentifiedamongthefourteencomponents,representing99.379%oftheoil,werecharacterized.Themajorcomponentsofessentialoilnamelyphytol(47.77%),propionicacid(28.8%),pentanoicacid(6.86%)etc.
