CarbonatesuccessionsoftheearlyLowerDevonian(Lochkovian-earlyPragian)fromtheMindigulovosection(WestZilairZone,westernslopeoftheSouthUrals)canbegloballycorrelatedusingdiverseconodontfaunas.ThenumberofthedocumentedwidespreadorcosmopolitantaxaoftheLochkovianandearlyPragianageenablesthedefinitionofgloballyrecognizedconodontsuccessionsandtheestablishmentofarefinedregionalconodontbiozonalscale.Thepresentthree-foldglobalsubdivisionoftheLochkovianStagecanbeappliedaswelltothestudiedarea.TheLochkovianintheSouthUralsisrepresentedbytwoHorizons(regionalterminology)withdifferentfaciesdevelopment:1.TheSiyakHorizonofthelowerLochkoviancharacterizedbythedominanceofshallow-waterorganogeniclimestonesofthehesperius-optimaandoptima-omoalphaZones,and2.TheSherlubaiHorizonofthemiddleandupperLochkovianagecharacterizedbythedominanceofcarbonate-terrigenoussuccessions.ThemiddleandupperLochkovianissubdividedintofivebiozones(usingabinominalsystem):omoalpha-eoeleanorae,eoeleanorae-eleanorae,eleanorae-trigonicus,trigonicus-pandorabetaandpandorabeta-sulcatuseta/steinachensis.TheLochkovian-PragianboundaryandtheearlyPragiantimearedeterminedbythepresenceofeognathodontidandicriodontidstocks.TheestablishedregionalconodontzonalscaleintheSouthUralsprovidesasolidbasisforrefinedcorrelationwiththeLochkovian-earlyPragiancarbonaterocksofperi-GondwanaandEuramerica.
