SincetheLateEmsianthegeologicalhistoryofDevoniansedimentationintheSouthUralBasinofRussiawasassociatedwiththeevolutionofvolcanismresponsibleforvastlydifferentfaciesenvironmentsoveralongperiodoftime-fromtheLateEmsianuntiltheLateFamennian.MaximummanifestationsofvolcanismtookplaceintheMagnitogorskMegazone;muchlessmassesofvolcanicrocksarecharacteristicoftheKuragan-Sakmarazone.AsignificantdeepeningofthebasinwasassociatedwithriftbasalticvolcanismattheendofthecostatusConodontZoneandcontinuedthroughtheaustralisandkockelianuszones.ProlongeddeepeningintheFrasnianbeganinthepunctataZoneandcontinueduntilthetectoniccalmoftheLaterhenanaZone.Maximumshallowingoccurredattheendofthevarcuszone.FaunalchangesfollowedwiththemorepronouncedmassextinctionofdifferentfaunalgroupsoccurringattheF/Fboundary.
