CalcareousandsandydepositsfromthebasalmembersoftheEnmakajandPil'hikajformationsincoastalexposuresalongtheDeLongStraitincentralChukotka,Arcticfar-easternRussia,haveyieldedtwoassemblagesoffossilfishcomprisingheterostracanplatefragments,turiniidandotherthelodontscales,acanthodianscalesandapartialtooth,typicaloftheOldRedSandstonefacies.Exceptionalareacanthothoracidplacodermplateletscharacteristicofmarinefacies.InadditionasarcopterygianfragmenthavebeenfoundinMember1oftheEnmakajFormation.Somescalesurfacesshowanunusual,scouredpreservation.ALochkovianage,andmostprobablybasalLochkovian,issupportedfortheEnmakajassemblage,andasomewhatlaterLochkovianageissupposedforthePil'hikajassemblage.ThepalaeobiogeographicaffinitiesoftheseassemblagesbasedontheheterostracansandthelodontsarewithotherLochkovianoccurrencesinArcticregionssuchasSevernayaZemlya,Spitsbergenandthenorthernandnorth-easternOldRedSandstoneContinentingeneral.
