【 摘 要 】
ThemostimportantgroupsofmodernredcalcareousalgaearetheMg-calcitesecretingCorallinalesandSporolithales,andthearagoniticPeyssonnelialesandNemaliales.Theyarecommonontheworld'sshelvesandarevulnerabletotheglobalwarmingandtheloweringofpHofseawater,causedbytheongoingincreaseinanthropogenicCO2.Amongthem,corallinealgaeareecosystemengineersandmajorproducersofcarbonatesediment,ofparticularimportanceintemperateandcoldseas.Corallinesrespondtomarineacidificationandrisingtemperatureshowingdecreasednetcalcification,decreasedgrowthandreproduction,aswellasreducedabundanceanddiversity,leadingtodeathandecologicalshifttodominantnon-calcifyingalgae.Despitetheirkeyecologicalandsedimentologicalrole,andbecauseoftheirvulnerabilitytomarinewarmingandacidification,ourknowledgeofthedistributionofcoralline-dominatedhabitatsandthequantificationoftheircarbonateproductionisnotadequatetoallowproperenvironmentalmanagementandconfidentmodellingofaglobalcarbonbudget.Locatingthealgalcarbonatefactoriesaroundtheworld,thendescribingthem,e.g.,evaluatingtheirextentandtheirproduction,areapriorityforfutureresearch.
