【 摘 要 】

LargemammalianfossilfaunaoftheIvandlocalityinnorthwesternIranisreportedforthefirsttime.ThisnewlocalityissituatednorthofthecityofTabrizinthegeographicalproximityofthefamousMaraghehfossilsites.Alargehipparion,representedbyanalmostcompleteskullandmandibles,isrecordedfromthislocality.Theskull,mostlikelyofHippariongiganteum-Hipparionbrachypuslineage,representssignificantevidenceofthepresenceoflargehipparioninehorsesinnorthwesternIranintheLateMiocene.Asmallnumberofhorn-coresattributedtoOiocerosatropatenesRodleramp;Weithofer,1890andGazellasp.,inadditiontosomeindeterminatedentition,representthebovidmaterialintheIvandfossilassemblage.PostcranialevidencealsopointstothepresenceofDeinotheriumgiganteumKaup,1829andRhinocerotinaeindet.,whileothermaterialaddscarnivorans,giraffesandlargeporcupinerodentstothelistofthefauna.Basedontheoccurrenceofthesetaxa,theIvandlocalitycanbecorrelatedwiththeMiddleandUpperMaraghehbiostratigraphicalintervals,thusdemonstratingamiddleTurolianage(c.8–7Ma).
