AcomprehensivesystematicreviewoftheBovidaefromthefossiliferoussitesofMaragheh,Iran,basedmainlyonthecollectionsstoredintheMuséumnationald'Histoirenaturelle,ParisandtheLaboratoryofEvolutionaryBiologyinHowardUniversity,Washington,DC,isundertakenhere.Weidentify18species,includingthenewlynominatedgenusDemecquenemian.gen.WefurtherrecognizetwospeciesofGazellaBlainville,1816,fourspeciesofProstrepsicerosMajor,1891,includingPr.cf.vinayaki(Pilgrim,1939)thatisdocumentedforthefirsttimeinMaragheh,aswellasthepresenceofPalaeoryxGaudry,1861andthepossiblepresenceofPalaeoreasGaudry,1861.OurrevisionincludesnewmaterialandimprovedsystematicunderstandingofbothUrmiatheriumpolakiRodler,1889andoftheboselaphinesfromMaragheh.ThebiostratigraphicdistributionofMaraghehBovidaeisdiscussedinthelightofthenewdataandathoroughcomparisonoftheMaraghehbovidassemblagewiththoseofPikermi,Samosandothersitesintheregionisconducted.WedemonstratethatMaraghehwasabiogeographiccrossroadsofseveralLateMioceneZoogeo-graphieprovincesofEurasia.
