ThenewgenusStreptoechitesD.J.Middletonamp;Livsh.,gen.nov.isdescribedandthenewcombinationStreptoechiteschinensis(Merr.)D.J.Middletonamp;Livsh.,comb.nov.ismade.AnalysisofchloroplastandnuclearlocileavesuncertainitsphylogeneticpositionwithintribeApocyneaeRchb.,butTempletonandwinningsitestestsrejectwithstatisticalsignificanceitsinclusioninSindechitesOliv.,EpigynumWightorCleghorniaWight,thethreegenerawhereithasbeenpreviouslyclassified.Incontrast,themonophylyofUrceolaRoxb.andEpigynumisneithersupportednorrejected,makinganyre-circumscriptionofthesetwogenerapremature.AcloserelationshipbetweenUrceolaandthemonotypicgenusAganonerionPierreexSpire,sampledforthefirsttimeinamolecularanalysis,issupported.
