ThetaxonomichistoryofPancheriaBrongn.amp;Grisisdescribedandproblemsconcerningtypes,includingsomecollectedbyMontrouzier,LabillardièreandVieillard,arediscussed.AllnamesvalidlypublishedinPancheriaorpublishedunderothergenericnamesbutreferabletoPancheriaarereviewedtoestablishtheircorrectorthographyandauthorship,andtheyarelectotypifiedwherenecessary.Invalidlypublishednamesaredealtwithbriefly.ThenamesP.humboldtianaGuillauminexH.C.Hopkinsamp;J.Bradford,sp.nov.,andP.multijugaGuillauminexH.C.Hopkinsamp;J.Bradford,sp.nov.,arevalidatedbythedesignationofholotypes.AnindexlistsallnamesreferabletoPancheriaandindicatestheirsynonymy.ThegeographicalpositionofBalansa'scollectinglocalityMtMiisdiscussed.
