【 摘 要 】
Heritage language learners are learners of the primary language of their parents which they might have been exposed to but have not learned it as a language they can fluently use to communicate with other people. Salinlahi I, an Interactive Learning Environment, was developed to teach Filipino heritage learners ages six (6) to eight (8) about basic Filipino vocabulary while Salinlahi II included a support for collaborative learning. With the aim of teaching learners of ages fourteen (14) to seventeen (17) with basic knowledge in Filipino, a new learning system needs to be developed in order to accommodate the learning needs to be developed in order to accommodate the learning needs of these students. To help resolve this problem, an Intelligent Tutoring System called Salinlahi III was developed to teach higher level lessons focusing on Filipino grammar and sentence construction. The target learners of Salinlahi III are those residing in North America. An internal evaluation of the system has shown that the user interface and feedback of the tutor was appropriate. Moreover, in an external field tests were done and results showed that there is a positive learning gain after using the system.
