【 摘 要 】
The Kalanguya , one of the ethnic groups in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Luzon Island, is dependent on the plant resources for their day-to-day existence. Their indigenous knowledge enable them to utilize the plants in the forest, which serves as their grocery, pharmacy, and hardware store. Indigenous knowledge by the Kalanguya in Tinoc, Ifugao of plants particularly for construction purposes is documented in this study. Individual interviews, focused group discussions, field research, and direct observation were used to gather information. Key informants such as heads of families, elders, and mabakis (tribal priests), were identified and interviewed with the help of local officials. Voucher specimens served as instruments for identification and documentation. This study lists 55 plant species distributed through 52 genera and 34 families that are used for constructing dwellings, fences, chicken cages, kitchen paraphernalia, baskets, and coffins. The interviews and focused group discussions reveal that the elders in the community possess most of the indigenous knowledge on plant use which, if left undocumented, can be irretrievably lost. Consequently, this report serves as a record of this vanishing yet important indigenous knowledge.
