【 摘 要 】

Social Structures and Political Legitimacy in the region of Ibb: An Ethnographic Study Situated west of the city of Ibb, the mountainous area of al Habl saw important social transformations in connection with the development of trade and the process of concentrated land ownership. Of these radical changes, which restructured the function of tribal systems in the south of the area, and resulted in the confusion : the mountainous district of al-Habl, west of Ibb, has witnessed significant social changes related to development of trade and concentration of land ownership.  Some of these changes, largely the result of the actions by tribal groups in the south of the area, have entangled different forms of power and legitimacy : heads of families, tribal shayks, and government representatives and agents assert their authority in sometimes converging but more often diverging ways. This contribution, based on numerous interview, highlights the complexity of relations between tribes.
