【 摘 要 】

We have resolved the excitation energy transfer from carotenoids to bacteriochlorophyll a in the B800–820 antenna complex of Rhodopseudomonas acidophila and found it to be about 3 ps. This efficient transfer can best be explained by the electron-exchange mechanism with a distance of about 4.5 Å between the molecules.
