【 摘 要 】
Effectively interacting with the terminally ill patient may be a new challenge for the nuclear medicine technologist. An understanding of chronic pain and the dying process is essential to meet this challenge successfully. The objectives of this paper are to provide the technologist with:1. An understanding of the physical and emotional reactions associated with the label terminal illness. 2. An understanding of the physical and emotional impact of chronic pain. 3. Strategies to effectively interact with the terminally ill patient. 4. Strategies to successfully counteract the emotional impact associated with working with this patient population.
