Synthetic indicator steadily evaluates the detection of TB cases

【 摘 要 】

Introduction: The quality of tuberculosis curly case detection is important for moving in Cuba to tuberculosis elimination as a public health problem.Objective: To assess the feasibility and utility of the application of the cases finding composite indicator for of an enabling intervention.Methods: A quasi-experimental-design intervention study was conducted in two municipalities of Havana City; two health areas were selected in each: Capdevila and Allende from Boyeros municipality and Turcios Lima and Puente Uceda from Diez de Octubre municipality. An enabling intervention was undertaken on both family doctors and nurses in Boyeros areas but not on Diez de Octubre areas. Isiloc was applied for both municipalities before and after the intervention during five ongoing periods in the four selected areas.Results: Before the intervention of cases finding composite indicator resulted 0.12 (deficient) for 11 tuberculosis cases of Boyeros, whereas it was 0.32 (deficient) for12 TB cases from Diez de Octubre municipality; after the intervention, it was very well for the two areas of Boyeros but Deficient or Aceptable for the Diez de Octubre areas.Conclusions:Application of cases finding composite indicator for monitoring the intervention effects on tuberculosis case, detection resulted feasible, useful and sustainable contributing on decision making, to improve the quality of the tuberculosis programme.
