【 摘 要 】

A retrospective discussion on the applications of anharmonic oscillator potentials of sixthorder to the description of the critical points of some nuclear shape phase transitions is made bypointing out the main achievements, but also attracting the attention on the problems that still remainto be solved in order to improve the models and to get a better description of these phenomena and ofthe corresponding experimental data. Further possible developments, in this research area or relatedareas, are suggested.
