【 摘 要 】

Introduction: Class III Syndrome is one of the most difficult challenges that the orthodontist can encounter in his daily practice. Early diagnosis and interception of malocclusion is important for the definition of orthodontic treatment, in the growth stage of the child we can guide the formation patterns of the jaws and decrease the chances of the unfavorable evolution of the same. Objective: To describe the most used functional appliances in the orthopedic treatment of Class III Syndrome at early ages in the Faculty of Stomatology of Havana. Method: Fundamentally a search was carried out through PubMed, Lilacs, Inaris, Medline and the Google search engine and the printed and digital bibliography was obtained, referring to the topic and published from 2010. Results: The large number of references found confirms the interest that the subject arouses in the orthodontic field. A review of the following functional apparatuses was performed: Klammt Elastic Open Activator, Stimulating Retropulser and Flat Tracks. Conclusions: With the use of functional devices at early ages, significant changes in the size and shape of the jaws can be achieved to achieve the correction of Class III malocclusion.
