Arg1isproducedbyAAMsandisproposedtohavearegulatoryroleduringasthmaandallergicinflammation.Here,weuseanArg1reportermousetoidentifyadditionalcellularsourcesoftheenzymeinthelung.WedemonstratethatILC2sexpressArg1atrestandduringinfectionwiththemigratoryhelminthNippostrongylusbrasiliensis.IncontrasttoAAMs,whichexpressArg1followingIL‐4/IL‐13‐mediatedSTAT6activation,ILC2sconstitutivelyexpresstheenzymeinaSTAT6‐independentmanner.AlthoughILC2sdeficientintheIL‐33RsubunitT1/ST2maintainArg1expression,IL‐33canregulatetotallungArg1byexpandingtheILC2populationandbyactivatingmacrophagesindirectlyviaSTAT6.Finally,wefindthatILC2Arg1doesnotmediateILC2accumulation,ILC2productionofIL‐5andIL‐13,orcollagenproductionduringN.brasiliensisinfection.Thus,ILC2sareanovelsourceofArg1inrestingtissueandduringallergicinflammation...
