Stimulationofneutrophilreversemigrationpresentsanattractive,alternativetherapeuticpathwaytodrivinginflammationresolution.However,littleisknownaboutwhethertheactivityofwound‐experiencedneutrophilsisalteredandwhetherencouragingdispersalofsuchneutrophilsbackintothebodymayhaveundesirableconsequences.Thisstudyusedazebrafishtailtransectioninflammationmodel,incombinationwithaphotoconvertibleneutrophiltransgenicline,toallowinternallycontrolled,simultaneouscomparisonofreverse‐migratedneutrophilswithnaïveneutrophilsinthepresenceandabsenceofsecondaryinsult.Detailedmicroscopyrevealedthatreverse‐migratedneutrophilsexhibitedanactivatedmorphologybutrespondednormallytosecondaryinsultandareabletomountaneffectiveantimicrobialresponsetoStaphylococcusaureus.Theseresultssupportamodelinwhichreverse‐migratedneutrophilsexhibitnolong‐termbehavioralalterationsandencouragethenotionofenhancedreversemigrationasaviabletargetforpharmaceuticalmanipulation...
