Duringthepastdecade,increasedemphasishasbeenplacedonfindingalternativestoIFN‐α‐basedtherapies.Onesuchalternative,IFN‐λ,hasshowntherapeuticpromiseinavarietyofdiseases,butresearchofthisfamilyofcytokineshasbeenprimarilyfocusedontheirantiviralactivities.ThegoalofthepresentstudywastoinvestigatetheroleofIFN‐λintheregulationandmodulationofBcellfunction.Weshowthat,similartoIFN‐α,IFN‐λ1isabletoaugmentTLR‐mediatedBcellactivation,partiallyattributedtoanupregulationofTLR7expression,andthatbothnaϊveandmemoryBcellsexpressthelimitingtypeIIIIFNreceptorcomponent,IFN‐λR1.Furthermore,thisIFN‐λ‐enhancedBcellactivationresultedinincreasedcytokineandIgproductionduringTLR7challenge,mostprominentlyaftertheadditionofhelperTcellsignals.Ultimately,theseelevatedcytokineandIglevelscouldbepartiallyattributedtotheincreaseinproliferationofTLR7‐challengedBcellsbybothtypeIandtypeIIIIFNs.ThesefindingsdemonstratetheabilityofIFN‐λtoboosthumoralimmunity,animportantattributetoconsiderforfurtherstudiesonimmunitytopathogens,vaccinedevelopment,andongoingadvancementoftherapeuticstrategiesaimedatreplacingIFN‐α‐basedtreatmentswithIFN‐λ...
