【 摘 要 】
Both in the developed and developing countries availability of drinking water is the main priority of human being. Fresh water available in nature 3% on the earth. This research is an attempt to use solar energy for conversion of hard water to soft water using compound parabolic concentrator. Soft water which is useful for drinking is in shortfall. This research is an attempt to haunt solar energy to desalinate hard water into portable water. A solar thermal desalination system has been proposed whereby heat from solar energy is utilised for heating hard (salt) water which is passed through cupper tubes and compound parabolic concentrator placed bottom of the cupper tubes to get maximum temperature in the form of steam. The steam thus formed is passed through a condenser where it condenses to get soft water. This theoretical analysis gives approximately 3-4 litres soft water per hour. It will be considerably higher amount of fresh water and it would be an ideal solution to produce drinkable water for local residents for Pune City which was located in western region in India.
