【 摘 要 】
Electro Discharge Machine (EDM) has shown tremendous application in machining of various electrically conducting materials precisely and accurately. Micro level precision is attained in EDM with hard alloys of steel. In the current paper EDM is carried out on copper plates with copper and stainless steel tool wires. A comparative study based on the effect of tool materials in machining copper plate is conducted. Stainless steel as tool materials has found to better in terms of higher material removal rate and lower tool wear in EDM process. A multi objective optimisation is carried out t analyse the best parameter combination with each tool material. Microscopic images are taken to study the quality of the micro holes machined in each cases.
