BackgroundSleep disturbance occur among nurses at a high incidence.AimTo develop a Nomogram and a Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model to predict sleep disturbance in clinical nurses.MethodsA total of 434 clinical nurses participated in the questionnaire, a cross-sectional study conducted from August 2021 to June 2022.They were randomly distributed in a 7:3 ratio between training and validation cohorts.Nomogram and ANN model were developed using predictors of sleep disturbance identified by univariate and multivariate analyses in the training cohort; The 1000 bootstrap resampling and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) were used to evaluate the predictive accuracy in the training and validation cohorts.ResultsSleep disturbance was found in 180 of 304 nurses(59.2%) in the training cohort and 80 of 130 nurses (61.5%) in the validation cohort.Age, chronic diseases, anxiety, depression, burnout, and fatigue were identified as risk factors for sleep disturbance. The calibration curves of the two models are well-fitted. The sensitivity and specificity (95% CI) of the models were calculated, resulting in sensitivity of 83.9%(77.5–88.8%)and 88.8% (79.2–94.4%) and specificity of83.1% (75.0–89.0%) and 74.0% (59.4–84.9%) for the training and validation cohorts, respectively.ConclusionsThe sleep disturbance risk prediction models constructed in this study have good consistency and prediction efficiency, and can effectively predict the occurrence of sleep disturbance in clinical nurses.

    During the past decade, cognitive neuroscience has been calling for population diversity to address the challenge of validity and generalizability, ushering in a new era of population neuroscience. The developing Chinese Color Nest Project (devCCNP, 2013–2022), the first ten-year stage of the lifespan CCNP (2013–2032), is a two-stages project focusing on brain-mind development. The project aims to create and share a large-scale, longitudinal and multimodal dataset of typically developing children and adolescents (ages 6.0–17.9 at enrolment) in the Chinese population. The devCCNP houses not only phenotypes measured by demographic, biophysical, psychological and behavioural, cognitive, affective, and ocular-tracking assessments but also neurotypes measured with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of brain morphometry, resting-state function, naturalistic viewing function and diffusion structure. This Data Descriptor introduces the first data release of devCCNP including a total of 864 visits from 479 participants. Herein, we provided details of the experimental design, sampling strategies, and technical validation of the devCCNP resource. We demonstrate and discuss the potential of a multicohort longitudinal design to depict normative brain growth curves from the perspective of developmental population neuroscience. The devCCNP resource is shared as part of the “Chinese Data-sharing Warehouse for In-vivo Imaging Brain” in the Chinese Color Nest Project (CCNP) – Lifespan Brain-Mind Development Data Community (https://ccnp.scidb.cn) at the Science Data Bank.

      Digitalizing optical signals through electric driving signals, electro-optic modulators (EOMs) are one of the cardinal elements in modern optical communications. Most of current EOM devices are targeting on-chip integrations, which routinely suffer from high coupling losses, complex optical alignments and single-band operations. In this study, we for the first time integrate a lumped EOM device on the endfaces of a single-mode optical fiber jumper for fast amplitude modulations. Profiting from ultrathin and high quality-factor plasmonic metasurfaces, nanofabrication-friendly and highly efficient EO polymers and coupling-free connections with fiber networks, our EOM is demonstrated to allow dual-band operations (telecom O band and S band) and high-speed modulations (~1 GHz at a bias voltage of ±9 V). This work offers an avenue to ‘plug-and-play’ implementations of EO devices and ultracompact “all-in-fibers” optical systems for communications, imaging, sensing and many others.

        Electro-optic modulators are key components in data communication, microwave photonics, and quantum photonics. Modulation bandwidth, energy efficiency, and device dimension are crucial metrics of modulators. Here, we provide an important direction for the miniaturization of electro-optic modulators by reporting on ultracompact topological modulators. A topological interface state in a one-dimensional lattice is implemented on a thin-film lithium-niobate integrated platform. Due to the strong optical confinement of the interface state and the peaking enhancement of the electro-optic response, a topological cavity with a size of 1.6 × 140 μm2 enables a large modulation bandwidth of 104 GHz. The first topological modulator exhibits the most compact device size compared to reported LN modulators with bandwidths above 28 GHz, to the best of our knowledge. 100 Gb/s non-return-to-zero and 100 Gb/s four-level pulse amplitude modulation signals are generated. The switching energy is 5.4 fJ/bit, owing to the small electro-optic mode volume and low capacitance. The topological modulator accelerates the response time of topological photonic devices from the microsecond order to the picosecond order and provides an essential foundation for the implementation of large-scale lithium-niobate photonic integrated circuits.

          ObjectiveDermatomyositis (DM) positive with anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (anti-MDA5-DM) is a systemic autoimmune disease with high mortality. This study aimed to explore the risk factors of death in anti-MDA5-DM and validate a prediction model for all-cause mortality in anti-MDA5-DM.MethodWe conducted a retrospective study using a single-centre cohort of patients with newly onset anti-MDA5-DM from June 1, 2018 to August 31, 2021. Patients were divided into four groups according to baseline ground-glass opacity (GGO) score: Group A, GGO ≤ 1; Group B, 1 < GGO ≤ 2; Group C, 2 < GGO ≤ 3; Group D, GGO > 3. The primary outcome was death during the follow-up. Secondary outcomes included death within 3, 6, 12 months, severe infection, and remission during the first 12 months.ResultsA total of 200 patients were included in the study. Based on multivariable Cox regression, the prognostic factors at baseline were identified as CRP > 5 mg/L, serum ferritin (SF) > 600ng/ml, positive anti-Ro52 antibody, prophylactic use of compound sulfamethoxazole (SMZ Co), four-category GGO score: GGO ≤ 1, 1 < GGO ≤ 2, 2 < GGO ≤ 3, GGO > 3. The final mortality of four groups was 16.4, 22.2, 48.5, 92.0%, respectively. Compared with Group A, the Hazards Ratio (HR) of Group B was 1.408, (p = 0.408), HR of Group C was 3.433 (p = 0.005), HR of Group D was 4.376 (p = 0.001).ConclusionsGGO score is a reliable predictor for risk stratification in anti-MDA5-DM and may provide guidance for individualized managements of patients.

            BackgroundAlthough zebrafish are commonly used to study intestinal mucosal immunity, no dedicated procedure for isolating immune cells from zebrafish intestines is currently available. A speedy and simple operating approach for preparing cell suspension from mucosa has been devised to better understanding of intestinal cellular immunity in zebrafish. Methods and resultsThe mucosal villi were separated away from the muscle layer by repeated blows. The complete deprivation of mucosa was done and evidenced by HE and qPCR results. Higher expression of both innate (mpeg1, mpx, and lck) and adaptive immune genes (zap70, blnk, foxp3a, and foxp3b) was revealed compared to cells obtained by typical mesh rubbing. The cytometric results also revealed that the tested operation group had a higher concentration and viability. Further, fluorescent-labelled immune cells from 3mo Tg(lyz:DsRED2), Tg(mpeg1:EGFP), Tg(Rag2:DsRED), and Tg(lck:EGFP), were isolated and evaluated for the proportion, and immune cells’ type could be inferred from the expression of marker genes. The transcriptomic data demonstrated that the intestinal immune cell suspension made using the new technique was enriched in immune-related genes and pathways, including il17a/f, il22, cd59, and zap70, as well as pattern recognition receptor signaling and cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction. In addition, the low expression of DEG for the adherent and close junctions indicated less muscular contamination. Also, lower expression of gel-forming mucus-associated genes in the mucosal cell suspension was consistent with the current less viscous cell suspension. To apply and validate the developed manipulation, enteritis was induced by soybean meal diet, and immune cell suspensions were analyzed by flow cytometry and qPCR. The finding that in enteritis samples, there was inflammatory increase of neutrophils and macrophages, was in line with upregulated cytokines (il8 and il10) and cell markers (mpeg1 and mpx).ConclusionAs a result, the current work created a realistic technique for studying intestinal immune cells in zebrafish. The immune cells acquired may aid in further research and knowledge of intestinal illness at the cellular level.
