The purpose of this thesis is to develop a six-week literature-based project on four ecosystems. This project is integrated through three content areas with a focus on differentiated instruction using scaffolding and differentiation methods. The content areas that will be focused on are social studies, science, and language arts. The four ecosystems that are targeted are polar, oceans, coral reef, and wetlands. The study of the four ecosystems will last approximately six weeks. The project includes a literature review, curriculum, and assessment instruments for some methods used. Unit references can be found at the end of each unit, with an extensive bibliography at the end of the thesis.
