This research is making a compartative study of German immigrant women in both urban and rural areas in the nineteenth century. The major research question is what are the similarities between rural and urban German women immigrants in the nineteenth century. The attempt is to provide a clearer understanding of these two areas, and how these women contributed to American culture. This implies that they both wanted better opportunities, but because of where thay settled their views of the United States were different as well as their contributions. The research is important because it illustrates the diversity of American culture. It helps in understanding American culture better because most research that has been done on German immigrants focused on the men.
