This study was designed to determine what flexibility and strength are as of the body have the greatest influence on the swimming of the 100 yard crawl. Twenty-six male high school swimmers who bettered or equaled a time of 56 seconds for the 100 yard crawl were tested for flexibility of the ankle, knee, hip , trunk , and four measures at the shoulder. This was followed by strengthtests of the knee, hip, trunk , and shoulder. Upon completion of the tests , the S;;s were timed for a 100 yard kick, pull, and swim.The data obtained from the study was analyzed by the use of multiple regression equations . It was found that certain flexibility measures were significantly related to swimming time. It was also found that the knowledge of certain strengthand flexibility are as could not be used to predict time.
