【 摘 要 】
Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) are opticalfiber sensors that can be used to measureboth strain and temperature. Due to their robustness, FBG sensors can be more easilyembedded into materials than traditional electronic sensors. In this thesis a procedure toembed FBG sensors into metallic structures was developed. This embedding procedureused traditional machining, along with adhesive to embed FBGs into metallic parts. This new embedding procedure requires no specialized equipment and allows any metallic part to be retrofitted with embedded sensors.
