【 摘 要 】
This study explores some of the impacts of trade policies on household's welfare in Cape Verde, with a focus on gender issues. In particular, it looks at food prices, remittances and tourism.
These dimensions emerge as important transmission channels through which trade policies affect gender relations in Cape Verde.
Through the use of simulations, the study assesses how individuals' and households' welfare would be affected by:
(1) a change in food prices;
(2) an increase in income originating from remittances,
(3) an expansion of some tourism subsectors. It also deals with the ongoing negotiations of an Economic Partnership Agreement with the EU and the possible repercussions of such an agreement on women's employment and welfare.

The study devises polices and instruments that would bring positive results for women. It recommends concrete national policies geared towards mitigating the domestic impacts of international food prices fluctuations; regulating labour mobility and facilitating remittance flows; and creating linkages between tourism and other economic sectors.
The national seminar for Cape Verde was held in September 2012.
