Large-Scale Mining(LSM) companies increasingly come across Artisanal andSmall-scale Mining (ASM) workers during their exploration orproduction activities in the developing world. The ASM-LSMrelationship is often conflictual because both types ofminers compete for the same resource or because theyperceive each other as a threat. However the ASM-LSMrelationship is now also undergoing a largely positiveevolution in part thanks to new Corporate SocialResponsibility (CSR) commitments.
