This volume consists of papers presentedat the Korea-World Bank High Level Conference on Post-CrisisGrowth and Development.The volume is organized as follows.In chapters one and two, II SaKong, chairman of thePresidential Committee for the Group of Twenty (G-20) SeoulSummit, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, managing director of theWorld Bank, provide convincing arguments on the importanceof integrating development into the G-20 agenda, the need togive voice to non-G-20 developing countries, and the keyrole Korea can play as a bridge between developed anddeveloping countries. Chapters' three to six coverbroad development themes. Justin Yifu Lin's paper(chapter three) examines the emergence of multipolar growthin the postcrisis period and the reforms needed to supportregional spillovers; Zia Qureshi's paper (chapter four)argues for including development issues in the G-20 growthframework and mutual assessment process and therefore moresystematically into G-20 policy discussions; Wonhyuk Lim(chapter five) provides an in-depth analysis of Korea'sdevelopment experience that illustrates how a low-incomecountry can transform itself into an advanced economy; andthe papers by Delfin Go and Hans Timmer and by Jomo KwameSundaram (chapter six) provide differing but complementaryviews on the impact of the global crisis on achieving theMillennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015 and what it willtake to regain momentum toward their completion.Chapters' seven to ten review specific sectoralpolicies and actions needed to achieve strong, sustainable,and balanced growth. Chapter seven by Bernard Hoekman andJohn Wilson discusses aid for trade and recommitting to theDoha agenda; chapter eight by Marianne Fay, Michael Toman,and co-authors looks at infrastructure and sustainabledevelopment; chapter nine by Christopher Delgado andco-authors argues for multilateral action on agriculture andfood security. Finally, chapter ten by Peer Stein, BikkiRandhawa, and Nina Bilandzic advances inclusive finance as atopic for the G-20 agenda. The volume concludes with amatrix of policy actions summarizing the main action pointspresented in the sectoral papers (appendix A) and datatables of selected economic and social indicators for bothG-20 and non-G-20 countries (appendix B).
