This report focuses on the attainment offour major human development-related Millennium DevelopmentGoals (MDGs) by Pakistan and its main sub-national units -infant mortality, child malnutrition, schooling enrollmentand completion, and gender disparities in schooling. Theselection of these MDGs for detailed analysis was based inlarge part on the availability of reliable sub-nationaldata. This paper includes the following headings:introduction; infant and child mortality in Pakistan; childmalnutrition; primary school enrollment; primary schoolcompletion; gender disparity in child schooling; and conclusions.
