【 摘 要 】

The world of religion has beenunacknowledged and often unseen by many developmentpractitioners. The areas of common concern and activity,though, are numerous and have great importance in the globaleffort to fight poverty. This book explores the diversity ofcollaboration between faith institutions and developmentagencies. ranging from community level interventions insupport of excluded populations, work on education, health,and HIV/AIDS, restoring communities after conflicts, andglobal efforts to bring greater clarity and meaning tochallenges such as poor country debt, labor and the struggleagainst poverty. What is emerging is a set of newpartnerships that are founded on common concerns for thewelfare of poor communities and the global cause of socialjustice.The need for broader and clearer insight, and forcreative efforts to see and understand the whole, emerge asfundamental lessons of recent decades of developmentexperience. This report seeks to delve more deeply intothese lessons, stressing the centrality of faith in thehuman experience.
