The Financial Literacy survey is part ofa World Bank Financial Governance Consumer Protection inFinancial Services Program, which aims to improve the levelsof consumer protection and financial literacy and therebystrengthen consumer confidence in the financial sectors. Theobjective of the study is to assess the level of financialliteracy and consumer confidence of households and tooutline the peculiarities in different target groups priorto the implementation of the action plan for increasing thefinancial literacy of the general population and, inparticular, of low-income groups. The questionnaire is basedon the model Financial literacy survey questionnaire used inRomania in order to achieve comparison of the resultsbetween the countries. The graphs and tables included in thereport are based on the data, collected by the FinancialLiteracy survey in Bulgaria. The report is structured in twomain parts and 3 Annexes: Part One covers methodologicalapproach and research activities, and socio-demographicstructure of the sample. Part Two presents the surveyresults in six chapters: level of confidence in thefinancial sector; awareness and consumer rights in the useof financial products; financial literacy; householdfinancial management; interest and use of financialproducts; key findings and recommendations. There are threeannexes: Survey questionnaire; frequencies of the surveyquestions; and cross-tabulations of all the questions bysocio-demographic profile of the respondents.
