The Investment Climate Assessmentconfirms the importance of the investment climate forproductivity in Chile. ICA results show that four aspects ofthe investment climate (business regulation, infrastructure,finance and technology and innovation) affect Chilean firmsin terms of their productivity. As may be expected, issuesrelating to infrastructure and business regulation affecttotal factor productivity negatively while skills,technology and innovation have a positive impact. The firstvolume presents the main results of the analysis, includingpolicy recommendations. More in-depth analyses are presentedin Volume 2, which is divided into seven chapters. The firstchapter provides an overview of the key questions and issuesto be discussed and a background on methodology. The secondchapter reviews recent economic trends in Chile. The thirdchapter presents a general statistical overview, includingan econometric analysis of the productivity of firms. Theremaining chapters provide a detailed analysis of fourissues affecting the investment climate: access to and thecost of finance, business and labor regulation, technologyand innovation and infrastructure. There is also a technicalannex on the econometric methodology.
