【 摘 要 】

This 2004 Annual Review of DevelopmentEffectiveness (ARDE): The World Bank's Contributions toPoverty Reduction, looks at the growth and poverty reductionexperience of client countries. It assesses the extent towhich Bank interventions have contributed to growth andpoverty reduction and the effectiveness of different typesof interventions. The review uses the key elements of theBank's 2001 poverty reduction strategy to examine theextent to which these elements respond to the needs of thepoor, are actually being carried out, and are having animpact. Like previous ARDEs, this review draws primarily onOED's recent evaluation studies, synthesizing andhighlighting the findings of these studies around a commontheme-in this case, poverty reduction.
