【 摘 要 】
The author investigates the effects oftechnology on the employment and wages of differentlyskilled Mexican manufacturing workers using firm panel datafrom 1992-99. She analyzes the relationship betweentechnology and skill demand. Findings support theskill-biased technical change hypothesis. She then examinesthe temporal relationship of technology adoption to firmproductivity and worker wages. The author finds that skilledlabor increases after technology adoption. And wages of bothskilled and semi-skilled workers exhibit markedly increasedgrowth rates compared with the growth rate of low-skilledworkers. The results show that investment in human capitalimproves technology-driven productivity gains.
