【 摘 要 】

Realizing the promise of the new globalinitiatives to expand trade requires concerted effort tomove development to center stage in trade policyformulation. This report is dedicated to that agenda. Itbegins with a review of global prospects and waysglobalization links the fates of industrial and developingcountries. The report then considers issues in four broadareas that are particularly important to developingcountries: merchandise trade, services, transport, andintellectual property rights. A final chapter summarizes theforward-looking policy agenda, and assesses the potentialimpact of further global integration and more rapid growthfor the standards of living in poor countries everywhere.
