【 摘 要 】
This study has two main objectives: 1)to analyze trends and differences in women's health,examples of good practices in delivery and financing ofwomen's health programs; and the key dimensions ofwomen's health that are relevant for the health reformscurrently underway in Latin America; and 2) to provideguidance for governments and program designers in addressingthe most pressing causes of women's ill health, withinthe context of broader sectoral and national policies. Thereport is divided into five sections. This overviewhighlights the rationale for focusing on the topic ofwomen's health, along with a conceptual framework forunderstanding the determinants of women's health andthe role of health policy. Chapter 1 describes major trendsand differentials in women's health in Latin Americaand the Caribbean, grouping countries into four broadcategories according to trends in health, demographic, andsocioeconomic indicators. Chapter 2 turns to a discussion ofsuccess, utilization, and spending on women's health,providing the results of new analyses for seven countries.Chapter 3 provides an overview of the links betweenwomen's health and health reform. It emphasizespotential synergies and opportunities to integratewomen's health concerns in broader reform initiativesand points out risks to be avoided. The final chapterpresents concluding remarks and recommendations.
