【 摘 要 】
Thee worldwide development ofinformation and communication technology (ICT) hasaccelerated dramatically over the past decade. Increased ICTproduction and use has the potential to influence economicgrowth positively. This paper focuses on the linkage betweenICT and output growth and summarizes the findings in theliterature on the contribution of ICT to economic growtharising from capital deepening and increases in total factorproductivity. It looks at the methodologies used to assessthe magnitude of the different channels through which ICTinfluences productivity growth, summarizes the key factorsthat increase and obstruct ICT expansion, and outlines thechallenges developing countries face in maximizingICT's contribution to growth. Strengtheninginstitutions to create an environment that attracts ICTinvestment and promotes ICT use; exploiting network andspillover effects by creating domestic demand; and promoting"adaptation close to use" to match local capacityand local needs have been identified as policies to surmountthese challenges.
