【 摘 要 】

This paper reviews and synthesizestheoretical and empirical research on the role of finance indeveloping countries. First, the paper presents the stylizedfacts about firms in developing nations as well as thelegal, financial and broader institutional framework inwhich these firms operate. Next, the paper focuses on thefinancing choices available to small and medium firms indeveloping countries and highlights areas needing additional research.
