【 摘 要 】

This document reports the results of anESMAP project in Comoros that was carried out between summer1997 and September 1999 and funded by the French Ministry ofCooperation. It also is a discussion paper exploringalternative ways to promote solar electricity. The projectwas meant to develop the market for solar electricity and tohelp non-electrified households attain higher comfort levelswithout waiting for the electricity company to expand itsdistribution network. The outcome of the project showed thatlarge projects were not necessary to begin developing themarket for solar equipment.
