Venture capital funds pool and managemoney from investors seeking private equity stakes in smalland medium-size enterprises with strong growth potential.These investments tend to be long term, and the industry isrelatively new in emerging markets. So only very recentlyhas it been possible to draw some conclusions about theperformance of these funds. The authors outline some of thelessons from IFC's portfolio.
