【 摘 要 】
Since the late 1990s access toinformation and communication technologies has seentremendous growth, driven primarily by the wirelesstechnologies and liberalization of telecommunicationsmarkets. Mobile communications have evolved from simplevoice and text services to diversified innovativeapplications and mobile broadband internet. The number ofmobile cellular subscriptions reached approximately 4.7billion globally, including people in remote and ruralareas. The number of Internet users has risen constantly andnow tops 1.8 billion people, with the number of broadbandconnections more than 470 million in 2009. The little databook on information and communication technology 2011 chartsthe progress of this revolution for 213 countries around theworld. It provides comparable statistics on the sector for2000 and 2009 across a range of indicators, enabling readersto readily compare countries. This book includes indicatorscovering the economic and social context, the structure ofthe information and communication technology sector, sectorefficiency and capacity, and sector performance related toaccess, usage, quality, affordability, trade, and applications.
