【 摘 要 】

This report provides a disaggregatedprofile of the world's small and large-scale fisheriesand an estimate of its direct and indirect contributions togross domestic product, food security, and rural livelihoodsto uncover the hidden importance of the fisheries sectorwith a view to increasing its economic and environmentalcontributions in a sustainable manner.The study revealsserious information deficiencies that undermine decisionmakers' understanding of the importance of thefisheries sector. The study concludes that the contributionof the world's fisheries to national and globaleconomies is greater than that generally recognized bydecision makers and makes recommendations to reform, inform,and improve data collection regarding capture fisheries.
